March in Northern Virginia is famous for two things: beautiful blooms and unpredictable weather. One day it is sunny and warm, and the next it is raining and cold.

For parents expecting a baby this month, that unpredictability can be stressful. But here at Chieu Lee Photography, the weather is always perfect.

While I love the idea of spring, I believe the safest and most beautiful place for your newborn portraits is right here in my Chantilly studio. We can capture all the magic of the season—the soft greens, the floral accents, and the “fresh” feeling—without you ever having to worry about mud, rain, or cleaning your house for a lifestyle session.

Here is how we are styling studio sessions for March 2026.

The “Indoor Garden” Look

You don’t need to go outside to get that organic, nature-inspired look. In the studio, I curate the environment specifically for your baby’s safety and comfort.

  • Floral Accents: For baby girls, we can incorporate high-quality faux florals or fresh greenery around the posing bucket or basket. It creates a whimsical “garden fairy” look while keeping the baby warm and safe.

  • Shades of Green: For boys (and girls!), Sage and Moss Green are trending huge for 2026. These earth tones look incredible against a baby’s skin tone and feel very seasonal for March without being overly “St. Patrick’s Day.”

Why the Studio is Best for Spring Babies

Newborns have a hard time regulating their body temperature. To get those curly, sleepy poses where the baby is naked or lightly wrapped, the room needs to be consistently warm (around 80 degrees!).

In my studio, I control the heat, the lighting, and the hygiene.

  1. No “Spring Cleaning” Required: You just had a baby. The last thing you want to do is scrub your house for a photographer to come over. When you come to the studio, you get to sit back, relax, and let me handle everything.

  2. Perfect Lighting, Every Time: We don’t have to chase the sun or worry about a cloudy March day. My studio lighting mimics natural window light perfectly, ensuring your photos are bright and airy regardless of the weather outside.
